Noëlle Turner

Noëlle Turner (b.1993) is a British artist based in London.
In a world where the psychical and digital intertwine, my work explores the individual’s search for self-knowledge, meaning, and mysticism weaving layered, spectral imagery that shifts between abstraction and figuration. My interest lies in the dissolution between the organic and inorganic, employing both digital and analogue techniques in painting. Influenced by Eastern and Western philosophy, Jungian analysis, and Quantum physics, I am interested in holding a kind of tension between multiple temporalities where the past and present collide: geological formations forming over millions of years, alongside quick formation of new technologies.
My process begins with the soak-stain technique, allowing patterns of colour to emerge through chance. Working on heavily watered canvas, predominantly with dyes, I let the flow of water dictate abstract compositions. These are then cut, collaged, and layered—combining multiple works into one. Drawn to spaces where creation and decay co-exist, I use bleach as a medium to screen print symbols and images, encoding data in states of metamorphosis. These forms function like constellations—markers on a map of the inner landscape—reflecting an ever-evolving exploration of self and the unknown.
